Visitors with a House, Park and Gardens ticket are able to climb the Victorian Watchman’s Tower.
The tower was originally used by the night watchman, but had been out of use since the 1950s and opened in 2020 following extensive restoration. Visitors can climb the staircase, which is made from oak from the Knebworth Estate, in order to reach the top viewing platform where you can enjoy stunning views of the local area.
An interactive virtual reality app ‘Knebworth Watch’ is now available to download for free from the Apple Store and the Play Store. Immerse yourself in scenes from Anglo-Saxon, Norman, Tudor, Victorian and modern times which show you what Knebworth House and Park may have looked like in those periods.
Knebworth House Education and Preservation Trust was grateful to secure grants from Historic England, the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Historic Houses Foundation to enable the two-year project to restore the exterior and interior of the Tower.
