Press Release: A Great Foodie Day Out for All the Family

The Great British Food Festival is coming to Knebworth on Saturday 21st July and Sunday 22nd July from 10am – 5pm each day (last admission 4pm).

 

In addition to a unique range of artisan food and drink stalls, there will be a great range of fun activities.

 

Top chefs and bakers from past TV competition series and from the best local restaurants will be showing off their skills with some wonderful dishes made live on stage whilst they offer advice and tips to recreate your own perfect dishes.

 

Volunteers will be invited to tackle the ‘Men vs Food’ challenges whilst being cheered on by the audience. There will be 3 challenges on the day: 6 min 6 sec to eat as much sausage as possible then down a pint of cider – sauce is allowed and encouraged; eat a whole chilli (excluding the stalk) or chilli cracker; and pairs will be challenged to eat an entire pint of chocolate, ice cream, gooey goodness. Competitors will be charged £5 to participate, which will be donated to charity (in addition to Park & Gardens admissions).

 

Alternatively you can relax as you enjoy some food from the tasty hot food vendors and listen to the range of live music, from stunning solo artists, delightful duets to full on party bands.

 

Children can burn off a bit of energy and experience something totally different with the free circus workshop where they can learn to stilt walk, plate spin, unicycle and more! Other activities that children can try their hand at include: brilliant arty workshops, treasure hunts, giant bubble making, drumming workshops, Food Olympics and a children’s dog show, all completely free!

 

Children can also enjoy Cookery Classes at £3.50 per child. These 30-40 min lessons are ideal for kids aged 3-12 years old. Get your children involved in some foodie fun, cooking classes perfect for little budding chefs. Best of all, you don’t need to clean up!

 

It’ll be a great foodie day out for the whole family at fantastic value as included with the price of entry are: the Adventure Playground, Fort Knebworth, the maze, the 250 acre Park, 28 acres of Formal Gardens and the trail of 72 life-sized pre-historic creatures. Tickets booked online before the day of the event qualify for a 10% discount off the full-price of £9.50 for ages 3 and above, or £34.00 for a family ticket/group of 4. Tickets at full price will be available at the gate on the day. Park and gardens entry is free for Season Ticket holders and children under 3. House tickets can be purchased at a supplement of £3.50 for adults, £3.00 for senior citizens / children.
