The Archive

The Knebworth House Archive is a private, family archive that welcomes enquiries from researchers. 

Contents:

  • The personal and literary papers of the Lytton family of Knebworth House, mostly from Edward Bulwer Lytton (1803-1873) onwards.
  • Administration records of Knebworth House, park and estate, mostly from Edward Bulwer Lytton (1803-1873) onwards.
  • Records and memorabilia from events held at Knebworth House and Park, mostly from its commercial opening in 1971, including Knebworth Park’s iconic rock concerts.

There is no publicly available catalogue of our collection.

The archive is open for enquiries on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10am to 4pm.  Visits are strictly by appointment only.
