Filmed at Knebworth House: Little Mix Wins Brit Award for British Video of the Year!

Filmed on location at Knebworth House, Little Mix’s single “Woman Like Me”, won the 2019 Brit Award for British Video of the Year. This adds to the success of the lead single from the album LM5, which reached number two in both the UK and Scotland music charts, number three in Ireland and reached number four on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart in the United States.

The empowering video begins with the girls in the back of a van heading to Knebworth House, which doubled as what appears to be a reformatory school for the video, to be taught the proper ways on how to be a woman. They are seen learning how to balance a book on top of their head in the Library, how to walk properly down the Formal Gardens, and how to properly eat in the Picture Gallery come dining room. Later on, the video cuts to a shot of each of the girls doing something that is stereo-typically feminine. Perrie is ironing, Jade is pouring the tea, Jesy smells the flowers, and Leigh-Anne is vacuuming – the Picture Gallery was looking pristine by the time they had finished with it! They are then seen on a giant set of balance scales wearing dresses and outfits; it was a struggle getting the scales into the triple-height Banqueting Hall. The video also cuts to the girls in the Banqueting Hall dancing on chairs.

When Nicki Minaj’s rap starts, the video jumps to a Victorian style painting located in our Banqueting Hall room; her section was not filmed at Knebworth House, but rather cut together in editing. The painting changes throughout her verse as she is “a chameleon,” as this happens, it cuts to clips of the girls. When the verse ends and the final chorus starts, Little Mix are seen dancing on top of the van featured at the beginning of the song, located in the front courtyard. Afterwards, the girls are shown eating in an “unladylike” way and destroying their chores. The video then ends with a shot of the girls together with a backdrop of the garden-side of the House.

As of 21st February 2019 the music video has reached over 151 million views on YouTube. It became the fastest music video on YouTube to reach 100 million views by a western girl-group.
