We\u2019ve just filled another Visitor\u2019s Book at Knebworth House.\u00a0 Before I deposit and catalogue it in our Archive for a future generation to discover (I know how much fun that is), I am browsing through it, reading the immediate reactions of people touring Knebworth House between the Spring of 2012 and the Spring of 2015.\u00a0 It\u2019s a heart-warming document, packed with praise \u2013 \u201camazing house\u201d, \u201ctruly beautiful\u201d, \u201creally interesting\u201d, \u201cwonderful tour\u201d, \u201cfriendly staff\u201d, \u201cmagical place\u201d, \u201creal experience\u201d, \u201cbeautiful gardens\u201d, \u201cgood value\u201d, \u201cwell cool!\u201d, \u201cone of the best houses we have visited\u201d \u2013 I\u00a0 probably ought to keep it on my bedside table to read every night!<\/p>\n

Of course, in the same way that people only tend to write on Trip Advisor if they have had a bad time, people only tend to write in a Visitor\u2019s Book if they\u2019ve had a good time.\u00a0 We don\u2019t currently keep Trip Advisor comments in the Archive, so maybe we are skewing history?\u00a0 I don\u2019t think so.\u00a0 We take all comments seriously and welcome constructive criticism.\u00a0 The way we do things is better for it.\u00a0 And there are always going to be people whose expectations we cannot match \u2013 \u201cplease ban children under 7\u201d \u2013 but they are the grumpy few.\u00a0 Overwhelmingly, the majority of our 100,000+ visitors a year enjoy a good day out at Knebworth House.<\/p>\n

So if the general truth is not always obvious on Trip Advisor or in the Visitor\u2019s Book, where is it best found?\u00a0 As we know, in the mouth of babes:\u00a0 Lucy from St Albans, \u201cI wish I could live in this house (and be a princess too)\u201d; Zoe from Dunstable, \u201cI lick all of the rooms\u201d; Niklas from Stotfold, \u201cI fink the Chinese bed is the best\u201d; Sophie from Banstead, \u201cI really liked the seacreat dors!\u201d\u00a0 Sam from Birchanger, \u201cI liked the interesting stuff!\u201d; Simran from Stevenage, \u201c:)\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n
