David Lytton Cobbold\u2026\u00a0 By way of closing, I would like to emphasise that when I originally approached you, my interest in running a large scale medieval entertainment was genuine and not in any way an elaborate subterfuge,\u00a0 Sincerely, Freddy Bannister.\u201d<\/p>\n

And the rest is history.\u00a0 2014 marks the 40th<\/sup> anniversary of Britain\u2019s biggest and best rock venue.\u00a0 Knebworth Park will celebrate in the summer with an exhibition in Knebworth House celebrating all 40 years of our rock concert history, and with the return of Sonisphere, the festival which ran successfully between 2009 and 2011. Sonisphere returns on the first weekend of July with another UK first for Knebworth Park \u2013 Metallica and Iron Maiden on the same bill.\u00a0 These two bands together have 45 million \u201clikes\u201d on Facebook \u2013 that\u2019s a lot of people to get excited about them playing at the same event.\u00a0 And these two \u201cwell-known groups\u201d want to be part of a \u201cpopular music concert\u201d on our \u201csuitable\u201d hill, because 40 years later, they join a list of now-legendary names \u2013 such as the one pencilled in on the above letter by Mr Condy as \u201cLead Zeppelin\u201d (sic) \u2013 who have made history in Knebworth Park!\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
